AVAYAVA - Contemporary Dance Festival in Pune, India
Swapnil Dagliya & Space Studios organize a contemporary dance festival in Pune, India.
AVAYAVA as a one of a kind dance festival hosts workshops in contemporary and modern dance by International choreographers. Swapnil Dagliya also curates dance for camera productions from different artists around the world to screen them as a part of the AVAYAVA.
The festival concludes with a variety of performances by invited artists from the contemporary dance scene in India and abroad and also by Swapnil Dagliya's dance company SPACE(Swapnil's Performing Arts & Contemporary Ensemble).
In the year 2012, Swapnil Dagliya hosted 2 choreographers from France, namely; Esteban Olives and Michel Casanovas.
Esteban Olives taught a workshop in contemporary jazz technique and choreographed a piece for SPACE. Michel Casanovas taught a floor-work, improvisation and contact workshop and also performed at the concluding show. The performers included a Contemporary-Kathak fusion group Beej and SPACE.
The dance for camera production screened at the festival included independent films by artists like Rajashree Ramamurthy(India), Wes Veldink( United States of America) and Diniz Sanchez(Spain).
